The Seresto dog collar has been the subject of controversy due to reports of adverse effects in both animals and humans. While the collar is designed to release low levels of insecticides to protect pets from fleas and ticks, there have been concerns about potential harm to humans, particularly children. Some studies have found traces of the collar's active ingredients on the skin of pet owners, raising questions about potential health risks. It is important for pet owners to carefully follow the instructions for using the Seresto collar and to be aware of any potential risks to themselves and their families. **

For a large German Shepherd, a wide and sturdy collar made of durable materials such as leather or nylon would be suitable to handle their strength. A leash with a strong and secure clasp, such as a heavy-duty metal clip, would be ideal to ensure they remain safely restrained during walks. Additionally, a harness with adjustable straps and padding would be best to distribute the dog's weight and prevent strain on their neck and back. It's important to choose products that are specifically designed for large and strong breeds to ensure their safety and comfort. **

There could be a few reasons why your Yorkshire Terrier suddenly had ticks this year despite using the Seresto collar. It's possible that the collar may have expired or lost its effectiveness before the 6-month mark, leading to a lapse in protection. Additionally, the tick population in your area may have increased, making it more challenging for the collar to provide complete protection. It's also essential to ensure that the collar is fitted correctly and that your dog hasn't outgrown it, as this could also impact its effectiveness. Lastly, it's always a good idea to consult with your veterinarian to rule out any underlying health issues that may have made your dog more susceptible to ticks. **

A harness is generally better for keeping a large dog under control compared to a collar. Harnesses distribute the pressure more evenly across the dog's body, reducing strain on the neck and preventing potential injuries. They also provide more control over the dog's movements, especially for strong or energetic breeds. Collars, on the other hand, can put pressure on the dog's neck and may not be as effective in controlling a large, powerful dog. **

Look for collars and leashes specifically designed for large and powerful dogs to ensure they are strong and durable enough to handle a Kangal's size and strength.
